ASDA has issued an urgent recall for a batch of popular children’s toy due to a “choking risk”.
The supermarket has pulled its range of Hapello Sensory Rollers after discovering they may contain small pieces of plastic that could become dislodged.
The product’s barcode is 5063089161708 and would have been sold between August 2023 and this month.
Asda has told shoppers who purchased the affected batch to “stop using it immediately”.
It added: “We have found that in a small number of cases, batch #36 of Hapello may pose a risk of choking due to the potential release of a small piece of plastic lodged in the toy in the manufacturing process.”
A full refund will be given without the need for a receipt.
Asda has apologised for any inconvenience the recall may cause. For further information, customers can call Asda Customer Relations at 0800 952 0101.
The toy costs £7. It is described online as “the perfect addition for your little ones’ playtime”.
“Let them discover how to get the shapes in and out of the soft fabric sides.
“The six shapes included all have different patterns, textures and colours with rattle sounds for added sensory experience.”
It comes after a winter warmer product sold by Amazon, eBay and Wilko has also been urgently recalled over fears it could overheat and burst into flames.
The Office for Product Safety is calling on shoppers to return the Bauer electric hot water bottle as soon as possible.
The bottle can be recharged, but comes with a 13-amp fuse instead of 3-amp fuse ,which could lead it to overheat, blow up or catch fire.
Customers are being urged to either return the gadget for a full refund or replace the fuse.
If you’ve got any more questions about your product, you can contact the distributor via email on afterservice@benross.com or call 01518 327600.
Shoppers can currently buy the product at a number of retailers including Wilko, Amazon and eBay.
Meanwhile, Tesco has also urgently recalled a popular £1 seasoning over health risk fears.
The warning is for a batch of garlic powder which is believed to contain peanut traces.
This makes the affected batch "unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts”.
Consumers have been urged not to eat the implicated batch by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.
But there could be serious consequences for those who unknowingly consume it.
The potentially life-threating seasoning batch has a pack size of 45g and expires in February next year.
What is a product recall?
PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
Many safety notices for products are issued as a precautionary measure, letting consumers know an item may be dangerous.
In more serious cases, manufacturers or retailers issue a recall, warning customers not to use the product and asking them to return it.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.
But it’s often left up to retailers to notify customers when products could put them at risk.
A company will sometimes issue a recall to limit the number of complaints.
