12/16/2024 10:13 AM
ASDA is one of the UK’s leading supermarkets, offering a wide range of exciting products and food.
The mega-chain will be operating under reduced hours over Christmas, as the chain gives its hard-working staff some time off. Here’s everything you need to know.
Asda during Christmas
ASDA will only be closing its doors for one day over Christmas.
The store will close at 7pm on Christmas Eve before closing entirely for Christmas Day.
The shop will then reopen for Boxing Day, though it will close at 6pm.
Asda will also operate under reduced hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Check with your local store ahead of the holiday to be absolutely certain of Asda’s closing time and to check if a local 24-hour shop will stay open.
Alternatively, you can check the Asda app for the opening times of any shop.
The supermarket chain is offering a unique range of items perfect for Christmas dinner and have even included Christmas recipes on their website.
Shutting up shop
Asda isn’t the only shop closing for Christmas Day in 2024.
The chain will be joined by Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Aldi, M&S and Waitrose in putting its shutters down on December 25.
Some high street shops, including B&Q, will also limit their hours over Christmas.
Asda’s incredible history
Asda originally a butchers owned by the Squith family in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
In the 1920s, they expanded their business to seven butchers in their area before partnering with a group of dairy farmers.
The shop became Associated Dairies and Farm Stores Ltd and quickly became a leading UK supermarket.
In 1999, Asda was acquired by Walmart in a £6.7 billion deal.
