Anna Faris says there's no bad blood between her and the stars she spoofs in Scary Movie.

The actress, 47, played Cindy Campbell in four Scary Movie films, starting with the 2000 original, which poked fun at Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott from Scream and Jennifer Love Hewitt's Julie James from I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Faris, who stars in the new action-comedy My Spy: The Eternal City, tells PEOPLE that the two actresses didn't seem upset by the jokes at the time.

"I have met Neve, but at auditions later on," she recalls. "I felt the need to kind of awkwardly apologize, and she was so lovely."

Meanwhile, Hewitt, "after the first one came out, she sent me a huge bouquet of flowers," adds Faris, "and she said, 'I just thought that was so funny.' It was really lovely."

With her Scary Movie role, Faris explains, "My goal was to play stupid enough so that no one would think I was actually mocking anybody. I can mock myself pretty well, I guess. But — at least that I know of — no one has been super upset with me."

Campbell, 50, continues to reprise her Scream role in recent sequels, and Hewitt, 45, is returning for a new I Know What You Did Last Summerfilm.

Faris didn't appear in 2013's Scary Movie 5, but Paramount announced in April that it's working on a reboot. Would she return for more horror send-ups? The star says it comes down to "money" and reuniting with costar Regina Hall, who played her best friend Brenda.

"I would love to work with Regina again," she says. "I just love her so much. Regina and I, we would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina."

The first Scary Movie, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, was Faris' breakout Hollywood role.

"It was like my bootcamp, my beginnings," she says. "If there is a high school comparison for my growth experience, those four movies played an important role in my life in terms of teaching me how to use props, teaching me how to fall, how to get hit in the head — how to hold Chiclets in my mouth and then spit them out with blood at a convenient time for the camera."

My Spy The Eternal City is on Prime Video July 18.
