CelebrityBig Brother star Kavana, who goes by the real name of Anthony Kavanagh, captioned the honest post: “On #AddictionAwarenessWeek2023 I want to make anyone struggling aware that recovery is possible.
“20 months ago I was lost, broken and hopeless.
“Ask for help. I'm so glad I did. #wedorecover #NoShame #youcandoit.”
Many rushed to reply to the post to share how proud they are of him.
One said: “So chuffed for you Anthony. You've been through hell and back, but you've got this! I hope you feel as amazing and proud as you look!”
Another chimed in: “Be proud of yourself. Always.”
“Look amazing! What a story!” a third added.
Back in February 2023, Kavana looked unrecognisable as he celebrated a year of sobriety with two selfies.
He wrote: "On the left, me arriving at rehab in a blackout. On the right, me today.
“Thanks to those that have helped me get here a day at a time."
Kavana has been in rehab twice – once in 2017 and again in 2022.
The star has released a number of singles between 1996 and 2015 including Crazy Chance, I Can Make You Feel Good, Funky Love and Déjà Vu.
He also has two studio albums – Kavana and Instinct.
Kavana re-emerged in 2014 on the series of The Big Reunion to be part of the 5th Story.
During his time on the show he opened up about his alcohol and drug abuse problems.
In a previous statement before he got help, he told fans: “Today I go into rehab. Again. This illness of Alcoholism has got its grip. I’ll be off social media for a while.
“To what family I have left, I’m sorry I wasn’t truthful I’ve been going through a lot of mental struggles. Good news I’m going to get the help I need.”
After 1999’s Will You Wait For Me, Kavana’s solo career was finished.
However, he took the decision to relocate to the United States, where he appeared in a number of commercials and an MTV show.
After that Anthony landed a publishing deal and became a songwriter.
Kavana disappeared from the public eye before re-emerging in 2014 as part of the second series of ITV2‘s The Big Reunion.
The following year he starred in Celebrity Big Brother.
