Report: Nikki Garcia 'Furious' With Artem Chigvintsev's Spousal Support Request

Divorce has a way of revealing someone’s true colors. In the case of Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev, things are going south pretty quickly. The Dancing with the Stars alum asked for spousal support in the divorce docs. Allegedly, that move left Nikki feeling pretty pissed off.
Artem Chigvintsev’s audacious spousal support request
Nikki officially filed for divorce on September 11, just days after Artem’s domestic violence arrest. In her filing, she asked for legal and physical custody of their son, Matteo. Two days later when Artem submitted his paperwork, things got questionable.
The DWTS alum asked for joint custody of their kid, which is understandable. However, he also asked for spousal support and for Nikki to pay his legal fees. A source close to Nikki told Life and Style that this fully caught her off guard. She thinks it’s pretty audacious and was hoping for this whole thing to be quick and painless.
"Nikki is absolutely furious that Artem is asking for spousal support. She's still in shock and has been asking herself, 'Who the hell did I marry?'" the insider claimed. "She's dumbfounded by Artem's audacity and lack of shame."
Naturally, the insider said that the former pro wrestler is planning on “fighting back.” She doesn’t want to walk away from this marriage paying Artem money and is hopeful that a judge will side with her.
"She hopes a judge, if it actually comes to that, sees right through his disgusting and exploitative cash grab,” the source continued.
It’s important to remember that all of this is going on as Season 33 of DWTS airs. Artem isn’t a part of this season, which is a decision that ABC seemingly made before all of this marital drama with Nikki. Either way, the insider felt convinced that Artem would have requested spousal support even if he did still have his job.
"Even if he wasn't asked back to be on Dancing with the Stars, she thinks he would still have asked her for spousal support," the source claimed. "After what he's done to Nikki, it's a slap in the face and a total loser move on his part."
