Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten React to DWTS Fans Hoping for Romance: 'We Love It'

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars has been on fire. Not only with its creative performances but with showmances and romances. The show has a history of steamy hook-ups, break-ups, and even some successful marriages. So, are Olympian Ilona Maher and her partner, Alan Bersten, next to board the love train?

Already this season, model Brooks Nader and DWTS pro Gleb Savchenko had some type of romance. Until Gleb used his texting fingers to end it once they were eliminated. Of course, fans have been shipping Bachelorette star Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber. Fingers crossed for a love connection there!
Now Ilona and Alan are sharing how they feel about people shipping them. "We see it all over. And honestly keep doing it people,” Ilona told E! News. “We love it. If ship means relationship, we are the besties. I think him and I get along truly so well, and we have a lot of fun together.”
The Team USA rugby team member continued, “Honestly it's like my teammate. I love my teammates. I love him.” Ilona added, “I think we're building something really beautiful here." In Alan, Ilona found a fierce supporter. He even accused the judges of underscoring her.
As for whether their relationship will last after the final waltz? "I hope it continues. Who knows, it could be the last time we ever talk after this,” Ilona quipped. However, Alan had other ideas. "No, it won't. On podcasts, maybe!" he said.
Then the duo, who will be competing in the semi-finals, shared their thoughts on the milestone 500th DWTS episode. "When I watched the show, I never thought I'd be on it, I just watched it because I loved it,” Ilona said. “So, to be here for this kind of milestone is such an honor. And to be here with a partner like this, it's really an honor."
Alan stated, "Honestly, it's so special. We do this in a week – the celebrities do not get enough credit. You know it's not easy. It is the most rewarding show, I feel like, on television." Hopefully, Emma Slater, Alan’s fellow DWTS pro who he is allegedly “hooking up” with, won’t mind Alan’s friendship with Ilona.
