Gary King Aqua Net’ed his man bun and walked on board Below Deck Sailing Yacht in Season 2. Season 5 is now airing, and Gary remains a part of this cast. As attached as he may be to filming, this series and its fans are growing weary of Gary. This disconnect is because Gary has continually placed himself within the proverbial doghouse, and every time he has messed up, a woman (or two) has spiraled. To explain, here are four examples that highlight Gary’s most problematic moments on BDSY.

To note, Gary is (seemingly) receiving an editing job during Season 5. Therefore, the chances are high that this list stops here. Should this be his final season on Bravo, we will keep our hopes high that Gary can sail off into the horizon without any further messy storylines at his back. But let’s be honest, missteps are his norm, as these examples prove.

Gary King found himself in a gross love triangle with Alli Dore and Sydney Zaruba – BDSY Season 2

When we first met Gary in Season 2, it quickly became apparent that he loved the ladies. I get it. Women are fantastic, sometimes. However, Gary loved the ladies so much that sometimes, his heart was big enough to receive multiple affections, which his chosen paramours all hated.

As for his first star-crossed stews, we have Alli Dore and Sydney Zaruba. Before Gary pursued Alli, he hooked up with Sydney, although, to be fair, he told Sydney that he wanted to keep their romps casual. Even with this disclosure, Sydney remained interested in Gary. As for Gary, he loved her fawning(s), so once Alli entered the picture, Gary kept Sydney by his side.

Once Alli discovered that Gary had been talking about sleeping with Sydney only to make her jealous, Alli grabbed her heart back from Gary. Gary later admitted that he was heartbroken by this failed boatmance, but any sympathy he received was short-lived. The viewers stopped caring how Gary felt during the Season 2 reunion, where Alli revealed that Gary had also been in a long-distance relationship during this SAME season. Gary can stay sad, was her vibe.

Gary King faced even more problematic moments with Ashley Marti, Gabriela Barragan, and Scarlett Bentley – BDSY Season 3

At the start of Season 3, Gary and his picker chose two new women, Ashley Marti and Gabriela Barragán. Therefore, Ashley asked Gary to make a decision. Unfortunately for her, Gabriela shared a bed with Gary that same night. However, her mental health was struggling, so Gabriela exited this season early, sending Ashley running right back into hairy Gary’s arms.

Gary then began ogling the replacement stew, Scarlett Bentley. He also ramped up his flirtations with Daisy Kelliher, which we will dive into shortly.

And yes, Ashley was equally toxic. But if you ask Gary, Ashley did not take advantage of his drunken self this season. However, once Ashley caught Gary and Scarlett talking in the middle of the night, her gloves came off. She outed this fledgling romance to Daisy, who shut down all late-night laughter sessions.

But this shutdown was not enough. Once Scarlett entered the frame, Gary became obsessed with this new stew. Scarlett was only onboard for a day before Gary began peppering her with unwanted hugs and a random neck kiss in the laundry room. These unwanted signs of affection would later play out once again during BDSY Season 4.

Gary King fails to respect boundaries and almost loses Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae in the process – BDSY Season 4

In Season 4, Daisy and Gary returned, as did their third series regular, Colin MacRae. For the first time, Colin was single, and Daisy was ready to mingle. So mingle they did, as Gary was stuck on land, dealing with Covid.

During the Season 4 reunion, Colin revealed that he and Daisy became a thing right before filming started. Wanting to alert Gary, Colin contacted his fellow costar, who was (allegedly) all in on this latest development. But once Gary came on board, he made a beeline straight for Daisy, acting anything but accepting of her new relationship status with Colin.

Gary spent the first half of Season 4 moping around the boat, flirting and touching Daisy despite her requests that he stop. He then dropped a bombshell, revealing that he and Daisy hooked up before she hooked up with Colin. Thankfully, his efforts did little to break apart Colin and Daisy, but as we all know, these two still parted ways post-filming for Season 4.

In true Gary fashion, however, Daisy was not his only conquest. Gary also hooked up with Mads Herrera. Thankfully, Mads was only with Gary for a good time, not a long (or committed) time. We loved Mads for giving Gary a taste of the pain he has caused other people’s hearts.

Gary King is hit with sexual misconduct allegations from a production assistant, Samantha Suarez – Post BDSY Season 4

So far, Gary has only gotten into trouble with his fellow yachties. But after filming went dark on Season 4, and the cameras had already picked back up for Season 5, a new allegation surfaced that threatened to destroy Gary’s reputation for good. These claims came from a member of the production team, Samantha Suarez. Samantha revealed that Gary attempted to force himself on her while filming Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht in the summer of 2022.

Before filming, the cast quarantined at a local hotel. Samantha had to bring snacks and updates to the yachties, but when she reached Gary’s room, allegedly, he came up behind her, grabbed her, pressed against her with his body, and refused to release her, even though she was kicking and elbowing him to get free. Once she was free, Gary slammed the door shut from behind her, blocking her exit out of his room.

Following many seasons of consent-less moves, Gary’s antics started resembling patterns. Cue the viewers, calling for his cancelation on Bravo.

To date, Gary maintains his innocence. However, his screen time does feel lesser during Season 5 of BDSY. As problematic as he has always been, Gary’s future on Bravo could still go either way from here, so stay tuned, and we will update you with the latest once it hits our desks.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently streaming on Peacock.
