Alexia Umansky has been on reality TV since 2013, so she’s a pro at sharing the details of her life. This past year, though, things were a bit harder for her. In case you were unfamiliar, her mom and dad (Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky) announced they were going through marital woes. We saw a bit of it play out during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, Alexia filmed even more on her Netflix series, Buying Beverly Hills.

Alexia wanted to be open and honest about her parents’ split on Buying Beverly Hills

During a chat with Us Weekly, Alexia discussed being in the public eye and how that pressured her family into talking about their troubles before they were ready.

"With everything going on in our family in the public eye, being on camera, you're talking about things a little sooner than you're ready," she said. "Just naturally, that happens, and we really leaned into that experience."

Alexia told the publication that she and Kyle have always been close. Despite that, Mo has been “so honest” throughout this journey. “Our communication has just completely excelled since this experience,” she said.

In addition to their open communication, the Netflix star said she and her family have gotten much closer. “But we're finally good at confrontation and hard conversations,” she explained. “We were always positive. It was a learning curve for us: it's OK to talk about the hard things; it leads to more positivity."

Kyle opened up about filming scenes for Season 2 of Buying Beverly Hills earlier this month. "I obviously want the best for him and my daughters,” she said, explaining they’ve supported her on Bravo since 2010. “I made a point to show up to support them this season — we had to work that out between the two networks … they have been showing up for years on [Housewives]."

You can stream Buying Beverly Hills on Netflix.
